Indrajit Banerjee (Sitar)

Indrajit Banerjee is one of the leading exponents of the Maihar Gharana. He was born in a musical family, unique due to the large number of accomplished artists of Hindustani classical music. He got his inspiration from his sitarist mother, Manju Banerjee, who was a disciple of Late Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, and afterwards, Santosh Banerjee. Indrajit began training with his maternal grandfather, Bankim Kumar Pal. He then took training under Pt. Manilal Nag of Bishnupur Gharana. Later on he took intensive training from his uncle Pt. Kartick Kumar who was a senior disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar. All of this training developed a strong foundation for Indrajit’s music and creative individuality. Indrajit has a special touch on Sitar combined with technical virtuosity and sensitivity. 

Indrajit is an A-grade artist of All India Radio and television and also an approved artist of I.C.C.R (Govt. of India). He is recipient of many awards including "Sur Mani" in 1990 by Sur Sringal Samsad Bombay. He has performed in numerous music festivals in India and abroad (Europe, U.S.A, Carribean, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Brazil, Middle East, etc.).

He has also collaborated with several artists from the West, including STING (Channel V Awards), Yaron Herman, Abbos Kosimov, Goodman Theatre, Fareed Haque, etc. He has several solo sitar albums to his credit. Indrajit has National and International awards from India and the USA. Indrajit is also a composer and has arranged music for several albums and award winning documentary films.

Subrata Bhattacharya (Tabla)

Subrata Bhattacharya is amazingly talented and accomplished percussionist and is one of the leading table players in India today. Few tabla players have enjoyed such instant recognition and acclaim among concert audiences. Subrata's solo renderings reveal his knowledge of the art and his creativity at their best.

As an accompanist of choice of some of the most renowned classical exponents, he exhibits his command over the tabla and his comprehension of the intricacies of the notes and sounds of classical music. He has to his credit numerous performances at some of the most prestigious venues in India and abroad. 

Being an accompanist is an essential aspect of any tabla player's expertise, and here too Subrata has made his mark. Renowned artists whom he has accompanied in the past few years are Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Dr. L. Subramaniam, Dr. N. Rajam, Pt. Budhhaditya Mukherjee, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain, Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya, Pt. Ronu Majumdar, Chitraveena Ravikiran, Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar and Pt. Samraesh Chaudhury. 

He has received his taalim under Shri Tamal Krishna Chatterjee, Shri Nripen Karmakar and Shri Tapan Kr. Banerjee before he was finally accepted as a pupil of tabla maestro Pt. Shankar Ghosh, all of whom honed his talent to the level of refinement now witnessed by audiences everywhere. He has since proved himself a worthy exponent of the Farukhabad Gharana.

Sandip Chatterjee (Santoor)

Sandip Chatterjee, a disciple of Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya and vocal maestro Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, is a rich and accomplished Santoor player of our time. He has been heralded as a torchbearer of two gharanas at the same time – Maihar and Patiyala. 

With his magical strokes over strings, He makes his unique melody speak. A deep rooted explorer in himself has helped him give a dynamic approach to his playing style with one hand.

Embroidering the silk with stitches, Sandip’s music has also thickly embroidered innumerable ears by reaching out to a greater world. Sandip has been extensively performing in many music festivals and concerts all around the globe. And, he has also collaborated with many overseas musicians across genres such as Jazz, Rock, Contemporary and Fusion. His collaboration “Calcutta Express’ with famous Jazz guitarist Guy Strazz was nominated as finalist in the Indo Acoustic Project’s “Best CD’s of 2006” award in the World Music category. Sandip’s expertise has also been utilized by renowned music directors like A.R. Rehman, Jatin Lalit, Gulshan Kumar, Rabindra Jain, Pt.V. Balsara etc.
